Selma Blair Revealed the Alarming Symptom That Led to Her MS Diagnosis

Selma Blair hasn’t held back from discussing what it’s like to live with multiple sclerosis (MS) since she made her diagnosis public in October 2018. She talked openly about the first MS symptom that made her know something wasn’t right with her body during an interview with Town and Country.

She was scheduled to walk in a Christian Siriano fashion show during New York Fashion Week in February 2018. She became aware of a lack of feeling in one of her legs while on the runway. She had experienced similar symptoms in the past, but she didn’t consider them to be severe. But things were different this time.

In the excitement of walking in the show, on that runway, Selma Blair said to the magazine, “I instantly lost feeling in my left leg.” However, I was on a runway and contemplating what to do.

Blair posted pictures from that evening on her Instagram page, where she also mentioned that she had just realised her leg was numb. “when I initially went outside. I was unable to sense the earth.”My brain was working on calculations. Stunned, I made my way down the runway,” Selma Blair wrote in the caption.

In August 2018, six months after the runway presentation, Selma Blair received a diagnosis of MS, a chronic, progressive condition that affects the central nervous system and impairs communication between the brain and other areas of the body. Symptoms of MS include:

Numbness
Paralysis
muscle tremor
Fatigue

When Selma Blair showed up with her cane at the Vanity Fair Oscars celebration in February 2019, it garnered media attention. She explained the celebration to Town & Country by saying, “It was a no-brainer, and there was no choice.” She did require a cane to assist her in walking, but this wasn’t just any cane. It was monogrammed by Blair’s manicurist with gel polish and rhinestones, making it truly red carpet worthy.

Blair remarked, “I hadn’t walked a red carpet in so long, and here I was coming. “I was aware that after my diagnosis, someone might be looking. I wasn’t sure if I would be the final person on the red carpet and would be forgotten.”

The glamorous features of Selma Blair job were evident in the stunning way she appeared on the red carpet.

What is Her Approach to the Diagnosis?
Since I began acting, some of the most well-known cosmetic artists have done my makeup, and I’ve felt so changed by their work that I actually changed into a different person, she told Town & Country. “It was like having a superpower to me. For me, makeup is not unimportant. Even before my diagnosis or my difficulties, my stunning war paint is what makes a difference in my life.”

Blair continued, “I don’t care if my muscles become tangled up in a sluggish brain signal. All I want is for those words to escape my lips and land on Chanel gloss.”

In addition, Selma Blair stated that she feels “quite at home” in her physique.
