Moretz was raised in Cartersville, Georgia, but was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Her father, Dr. McCoy “Mac” Moretz, was a plastic surgeon and the heir to the Moretz hosiery company, which was acquired in 2011 for $350 million. Her mother, Teri Duke, is a nurse practitioner. Brandon, Trevor, Colin, and Ethan are her four older brothers; Kathleen, an older sister, passed away soon after giving birth. She has stated that her family is Southern Baptist and “extremely Christian.” She originally became interested in acting when her brother Trevor was admitted into the Professional Performing Arts School.
