Fans of “Riverdale” are familiar with Madchen Amick from her portrayal of Betty Cooper’s mother, Alice, in the hit series.
Amick has acted in a variety of films during the course of her more than 30 years in the entertainment industry, including “Sleepwalkers” and “Gossip Girl.”
According to the “Twin Peaks” actress, she declined the part of Carrie Bradshaw in “S=x and the City.”
Because it was a spin-off of a character I played on “Central Park West,” “S=x and the City” was presented to me (Carrie Fairchild). Since my children were so little, I didn’t think I could put on another hour-long concert. I probably should have chosen “S=x and the City,” but it’s okay in retrospect. It was Sarah Jessica’s since she was so excellent in it.
Amick didn’t get to play all the roles he wanted to.
She added, “The network believed that I didn’t seem old enough to be a parent. I almost got cast in ‘Gilmore Girls’.” Later on, Lauren Graham was chosen to portray Lorelai Gilmore.
It transpires that Amick was not the only actress who purportedly declined to play Carrie Bradshaw on “S=x and the City.”
Dana Delany, actress of “Desperate Housewives,” was offered the part but declined because she had already worked on several s=x-related projects.
