Anna Kendrick spoke about the “emotional torture and psychological trauma” she went through in a previous relationship when promoting her film, Alice, Darling. In an interview with People that was released on September 7th, the 37-year-old Pitch Perfect actress said, “I was coming out of a personal experience with emotional abuse and psychological assault.”
She said, “I believe my rep sent it to me because he understood what I had been going through and forwarded it along. He said, “This sort of speaks to everything you’ve been talking to me about,” which is why.
Because I thought, “Well, if I were in an abusive relationship, it would look like that,” she added, “that kind of helped me normalise and reduce what was happening to me. “At the time, I loved and trusted this individual more than I trusted myself.
Your life becomes quite perplexing very fast when that individual is claiming that you have a warped perception of reality, that you are impossible, and that everything you believe to be true is false.
“And I was in a scenario where, towards the end, I had the extraordinary experience of discovering that what I thought was going on was actually going on,” the speaker continued.Kendrick’s recovery has been “difficult” despite learning that what she “thought was going on was in fact going on.”
She said, “My body still feels like it was my responsibility.” It’s amazing how difficult recovery has been even with this solid starting point for me, to leave that relationship knowing that I wasn’t crazy.
Kendrick has been secretive about her relationships over the years, although from 2014 to 2020, she was dating cinematographer Ben Richardson before moving on to “Saturday Night Live” alum Bill Hader.
