Lili Reinhart opened up about the difficulty she had revealing her body in intim-te scenes for her CW series Riverdale in a Los Angeles Times interview published Monday.
The 23-year-old actress said she felt ‘insecure’ filming scenes in just a bra and panties because she didn’t think she had the typical ‘CW girl body.’
Despite her struggles with accepting her own physique, she filmed the scenes in the hopes of inspiring her supporters and viewers.
Lili admitted that some of her co-stars have gone up to 12 hours without eating before filming sequences in their underwear, but she wanted viewers of the show to see a more ‘normal’ body, at least by her standards.
‘I don’t have the physique of a CW girl — little waist, nice-shaped legs, slender, petite, tiny,’ she admitted.
‘Last season, I had to do a bra and underwear sequence, and I was pretty nervous about it.’ ‘I didn’t want to do that at all,’ she continued.
‘I kept it a secret from everyone.’ I didn’t feel compelled to do it. It was my job, therefore I did it. However, I felt awful about doing it. ‘I truly did.’ And this is when things get tricky. ‘I can’t promote body positivity unless I live it,’ she concluded.
‘So, even if I didn’t feel great about my body, I felt it was vital to execute the scene in my bra and panties so people could see my body for what it was.’ ‘I did it for those who feel compelled to seem a certain way,’ she explained.
