Is this a date, or is it not? Unmarried people have struggled with this dilemma for centuries, and even actor Kate Beckinsale is unsure if she has ever experienced it firsthand.
In a recent interview with Extra, she made the joke, “Do you know I’ve never really gone on a date?” She continued, “I basically meet someone, get to know them at work, and then either marry them or get pregnant by them.”
LOL, first of all. (Beckinsale has a daughter with her ex-husband Michael Sheen; they were married once, to filmmaker Len Wiseman.) Second, it appears that she is discussing a typical first date. Nothing would make her more miserable than having to watch someone eat in front of them, especially someone she didn’t know and probably wouldn’t like. I understand that eating with a stranger can be awkward, but I’m surprised by her lack of originality in this situation. Bowling can be a date. Skydiving can be a date. One date idea is to paint mugs.
