Julianne Hough’s self-confidence suffered as a result of being fat shamed while filming a movie.
The actress and former Dancing With the Stars pro who later became a judge admitted to being labelled overweight in an interview with Redbook magazine.
Growing up, I was quite tolerant of myself, then something changed in middle school. I would assess myself against everyone. Later, I worked on a movie where I was essentially told I was overweight every day, despite the fact that I was the skinniest I had ever been, Hough said the magazine.
The comments were unpleasant at the time, but Hough has since learned techniques for boosting her self-confidence whenever she struggles with her body image.
When she feels self-conscious, she adds, “I’ll now do something really ridiculous or goofy to get out of my own head — something fun that reminds me of the freedom I felt as a youngster before all that happened.”
When she made her comments, Julianne didn’t say which movie she was making a reference to.
She also credited her spouse, hockey player Brooks Laich, for helping her restore her confidence. She claimed that whenever she would criticise herself, he would tell her to consider her strengths.
When she and Brooks initially started dating, she recalled how every time they took a photo, she would immediately say, “Oh, God, let’s take it again.” He once remarked, ”
As she continues to exercise in an effort to alter her shape for her role as fitness pioneer Betty Weider in the movie “Bigger,” the actress talked about body image.
“Women back then had larger hips and busts. I’m more elongated and square, to be honest; I don’t naturally have the hourglass form.
Hough has been experimenting with her exercise and diet plan in preparation for the part.
Basically, she explains, she reduced her aerobics and increased her weightlifting. Additionally, if I felt like having a little extra ice cream that day, I would consume it and it would immediately reach my hips.
This morning, while I FaceTimmed with my husband Brooks, I said, “Look. My waist is smaller, my boobs are bigger, and my butt is bigger. It’s kind of pleasant!
At the age of 11, the actress made her acting debut as a Hogwarts student in the 2001 film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the first in the Harry Potter series. It was shot in England, where Julianne and Derek Hough were residing at the time with Mark Ballas, a fellow Dancing With the Stars pro, and his parents.
At the age of 22, Julianne played a dancer in the 2010 dance drama film Burlesque starring Christina Aguilera and Cher. While she was taking a break from Dancing With Stars, the movie was filmed in late 2009.
I’m currently employing a trainer. Funny enough, because I’ve always danced, I’ve never had a weight problem, she told Self magazine in 2010. I could always have a lean body, eat anything I wanted (of course in moderation), and never gain a pound. Then I stopped dancing, started Burlesque, was busy writing, doing a lot of other things, and never prioritised working out. I also continued to eat whatever I wanted, so I actually put on 15-20 pounds as a result. In my entire life, I have never weighed more than I do now.
“Holy crap, what the heck is going on?” was how I felt. She spoke. It was quite difficult because I was still working on red carpets and people would say things like, “Julianne looks really different; I wonder if she’s had work done. No, simply my face is chubby. It’s somewhat humorous. Then I realised that I really wanted to see Julianne again since there’s where I always know I feel the greatest. It’s more like I just feel like Julianne again than it is about how I appear. You get what I mean when I say that I feel confident, fit, and healthy? In two to three weeks, I supposedly lost 15 pounds. It was quite arduous.
Amber Rose told Hough that her figure made her feel “uncomfortable” in September 2016, and Hough was accused of body shaming Rose.
Rose observed that “Dancing with the Stars'” gorgeous professional dancers “dress really s**y, perform splits, and grind up on these guys and they look incredibly stunning and they get a standing ovation.” And as for me, my hips, a-, and breasts made her (Hough) uncomfortable.
