Jessica Simpson was the victim of wardrobe failures on two separate occasions, according to director Sally Singer.
Singer explained that Simpson’s gown, an intricately embroidered silver halter dress by Roberto Cavalli, couldn’t keep everything in place at the 2007 “Poiret: King of Fashion” exhibit. Simpson’s breasts “may have fallen out” on the red carpet, according to the editor, and things only got worse throughout the night’s supper.
“At dinner, it was like, whoa, Jessica Simpson’s breasts are across from me on a platter, and I’m looking at them,” Singer wrote. “At the dining table, John Mayer was placing his hands on them. ‘Oh, celebrities, feel free to play here,’ I remember thinking as he reached down. That’s the situation.'”
Previously, during the 2005 gala, designer Michael Kors spoke about another of Simpson’s wardrobe catastrophes.
Kors explained that he realised Simpson had moved away for a moment longer than was necessary, and when he went to look for her in the lavatory, he discovered her and the revelry he’d heard about.
“One year, I went with Jessica Simpson, and she went to the ladies’ room, and she seemed to be gone from the table for quite a bit,” Kors remarked. “So I became a little worried and hoped she was okay. And I headed to the ladies’ room, which always was the finest party at the Met Gala, especially during the early 2000s.”
When he finally located her, he explained that the zipper on her dress had broken and that he had to stitch her up on the spot in order to get her back to the party — though staying at the other party doesn’t seem so horrible.
“I opened the door to find a full-fledged party going on, and I didn’t see her,” he said. “She was stuck in a stall because her dress’s zipper had broken and she couldn’t close it. So we grabbed a needle and thread and stitched her back into her gown!”
